Ariane Girard

Mezzo-soprano Ariane Girard has built a solid reputation among the best pedagogues in Canada. For over 15 years, she has guided established and emerging lyric artists towards their vocal flourishing through a healthy, natural, and personalized technique. She is a guest professor at the Faculty of Music at the University of Montreal, the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, the Domaine Forget International Academy also at the Paris Opera Academy and Opera Comique; she also was principal voice teacher at the Atelier lyrique of the Opéra de Montréal from 2016 to 2024. Her students perform on the world’s greatest stages, including the Opéra de Paris, Opéra de Lausanne, La Scala in Milan, Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Opéra de Montréal, Opéra de Marseille, Deutsch Oper am Rhein, Bayreuth Festival, Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Strasbourg, Wexford Festival, Glyndebourne Festival, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and more. Known for her impeccable ear, clear and effective teaching, quick diagnosis of vocal issues, and extensive knowledge of the repertoire, Ariane is frequently invited to give masterclasses and serve on competition and audition juries.

In addition to her teaching, she dedicates herself as a soloist to recitals and sacred music. With a velvety, brilliant, and generous mezzo-soprano voice, Ariane Girard has been engaging with audiences and working with great masters in Quebec and Europe for over 15 years. A great lover of orchestral music, she passionately invests in her preferred repertoire, which includes Mahler’s works for voice and orchestra and sacred music. Her refined interpretations and mastery of vocal repertoire also make her an outstanding recitalist.

The lyric artist from Lac-Saint-Jean is a laureate of the Grand Prix national of the Canadian Music Competition, the second prize at the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra Competition, and a finalist at the Maria Callas Grand Prix, the Marmande International Singing Competition (French melody), and the Concorso per Cantanti Lirici in Alcamo. In recitals, she delivers remarkable interpretations of vocal works by Brahms, Dvorak, Schumann, Massenet, and Strauss. In Mahler’s Rückert Lieder and Kindertoten Lieder, Mozart’s and Verdi’s Requiems, Bach’s Magnificat, and Palmeri’s Missa Tango, her voice harmoniously blends with the orchestra’s richness, touching the audience.
