About Étienne Dupuis

Praised for his “suave, empathetic baritone” and his “refined, charismatic” stage presence (The New York Times), Etienne Dupuis enjoys international acclaim, appearing regularly at the world's most important opera stages and concert platforms.
Etienne opens his 2024/25 season in one of his signature roles, as Rodrigo di Posa in a new production of "Don Carlo" at the Wiener Staatsoper. Continuing his series of iconic Verdi debuts, he makes his debut in the title role of "Macbeth" in a new staging at the Washington National Opera, before reprising "Rigoletto", this time at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Following another run of "Don Carlo" at Wiener Staatsoper, Etienne also stars as the protagonist of "Don Giovanni" at the Viennese opera house and sings his first Don Pedro in concert performances of Donizetti's "Maria Padilla" for his debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza of Sevilla. He concludes the season returning to the role of Conte di Luna in "Il trovatore" at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

The first part of Etienne's 2023/2024 season entirely revolved around Giuseppe Verdi: following a concert performance of "La traviata" at the Wiener Konzerthaus, he made two thrilling Verdi debuts as Don Carlo di Vargas in "La forza del destino" at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and in the title role of "Rigoletto" in a new production at the Teatro Real Madrid. At the Opéra de Montréal, he starred as Count Karl Gustav in the world premiere of Bilodeau's "La Reine-garçon", while at the Paris Opéra, Etienne returned to sing his first Paolo Albiani in "Simon Boccanegra" and Sancho Pança in a new production of Massenet's "Don Quichotte". Etienne wraps up his season returning to the title role of "Rigoletto", touring with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden to Yokohama and Tokyo and reprising the role of Marcello with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Bravo!
